At Forge Recycling, we are proud to be working with three great coffee shops in Leeds, Laynes Espresso, Opposite Café and North Star Coffee Shop, which are all putting in a great effort towards making their businesses as sustainable as possible.

Amongst several other segregated waste streams, these three great shops recycle their Food waste, whilst using and recycling sustainable plant-based Vegware packaging, which we compost. Hear from Dave, Lou and Holly and what they love about Vegware and Forge, in the video below.

Food Recycling is an extremely effective recycling option for our environment. When being put into general waste and ending up in landfill, Food produces methane as it breaks down, this is 22 times more damaging to the environment than CO2. Whereas Forge’s recycling solution does the opposite, we utilise a facility in Yorkshire which is equipped with anaerobic digestion, in-vessel composting and onward fuel manufacture to ensure that no food goes to landfill or incineration.

The many benefits of food recycling include energy recovery through generating electricity within anaerobic digestion, as well as the production of rich compost which is spread back onto Yorkshire farmland, enabling improved soil enrichment and allowing the cycle to begin again!
